Principal’s Message

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we approach an important time in our school year, I want to take a moment to emphasize the significance of statewide testing, which will begin next week.
These assessments provide valuable insight into your child’s academic progress and help us better understand how to support their continued growth. They also play a key role in measuring our school’s overall performance and ensuring we are meeting the needs of all students.
We kindly ask for your support in helping your child be prepared and confident each day of testing. Here are a few ways you can help:
  • Ensure your child gets a good night’s sleep each evening
  • Encourage them to eat a healthy breakfast before school
  • Make every effort for your child to arrive on time and be present each day
  • Remind them to do their best and stay positive
It is important that students take these assessments seriously and give their best effort. We have seen tremendous growth in our students this year, and this is an opportunity for them to showcase all they have learned.
Our staff is committed to creating a calm and supportive testing environment, and we are confident that our students will rise to the occasion. Your encouragement at home makes a significant difference in their confidence and success.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. If you have any questions regarding testing, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Warm regards,

Becky Malugin
Principal
Spring Hill Middle School

Awards Days

In an effort to be proactive and support family planning, Spring Hill Middle School is sharing the dates for our upcoming awards days. We encourage parents and guardians to mark their calendars and make plans to join us as we celebrate student achievement across grade levels.

Students in grades 5–7 will be recognized during their designated awards ceremonies, and families will be contacted by their child’s teacher if their student will be receiving an award. This helps ensure clear communication while we celebrate the hard work and accomplishments of our students throughout the year.

For our 8th grade families, additional information regarding graduation

will be shared in the coming weeks. We are excited to celebrate this important milestone with our students and their families and will provide details soon to help with planning.

5th Grade: Monday, May 18 @ 8:15
6th Grade: Tuesday, May 19 @ 8:15
7th Grade: Tuesday, May 19 @ 10:30

8th Grade Graduation: Wednesday, May 20 @ 8:30

PTSA

Spring Hill Middle PTSA is partnering with the Phill the Box program to collect gently used clothing, linens, and shoes—and we would love your support! Simply donate your unwanted items to the blue Fill the Box container located in the gymnasium parking lot at SHMS. At the end of the 30-day collection period, our PTSA will be paid for every pound of items collected, directly supporting programs for our students.

Thank you for helping us make a difference in such an easy and impactful way!

Teacher Appreciation Week

May 4- May 8

Teacher Appreciation Week is coming up May 4–May 8, and it’s a wonderful opportunity for our Spring Hill Middle School families to join us in celebrating the incredible educators who make a difference in the lives of our students every day. Our teachers work tirelessly to support, encourage, and inspire our learners, and we are so grateful for their dedication and commitment.

We encourage parents and families to take a moment during this special week to show their appreciation in a meaningful way. A kind handwritten note, a small plant, a favorite snack, or another thoughtful token of gratitude can go a long way in brightening a teacher’s day. These simple gestures remind our staff how valued and appreciated they truly are.

Thank you for partnering with us in recognizing the hard work and heart our teachers bring to SHMS each and every day!

School Volunteers

Spring Hill Middle School is excited to host our Annual Spring Carnival on May 21. This is always a fun-filled event for our students! The carnival will feature bounce houses, concessions, a dunking booth, and several other exciting activities. With so much happening, additional adult supervision will be greatly appreciated to help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

We are currently seeking parent volunteers to assist with various areas throughout the event. If you are available and willing to help, please reach out to Mrs. Angel Fraley at afraley@mauryk12.org

Your support plays a vital role in making events like this successful, and we are grateful for any time you are able to give. Thank you for helping us create a memorable experience for our students!
